DISCOLORED WATER POSSIBLE IN TARGETED AREA
Some water customers in the City of Jackson may experience a
discoloration in their water today and tomorrow according to city
officials. The City’s Water Department
will be flushing the water pipes in the neighborhoods of North Oak Street,
Valley Road and Chestnut Drive on Wednesday, December 5, and possibly,
Thursday, December 6. City officials
say it’s due to a problem with the water quality in an isolated area of these
neighborhoods but flushing the entire area is necessary due to pipe
connectivity. The water is still safe
for cooking, drinking and other uses, however, officials say customers may want
to avoid doing laundry because the discoloration could stain clothing. If the discoloration occurs, residents are
encouraged to run their cold water until the water is clear. It’s unclear as to what has caused the
discoloration at this time, but all discoloration should be cleared up within
48 hours.
